UNITED NATIONS @ SEVENTY-ONE

America, Britain, China, France & Russia
The five veto-power nations of confusion
Inventors of weapons of mass destruction
Is war your cup of tea?

Do you swab your hands with human blood?
Can’t you hear the cries of innocent souls
Of Palestinian offspring, Syrian kids of oceans,
Progenies of Libya, Somalia, Yemen, etc., etc.?  

UN @ Seventy-one years of male chauvinism
Ten UN Secretary-Generals without a woman
Where there is no woman, no humanism
Little wonder the world is in turmoil
You’ve done well; yet too gory soil

What a civilised world of “paradoxity”
 A world full of worms of hypocrisy
Where wars become the rock of Peace
Yet Peace is not the dearth of wars

Where anarchy becomes the womb
That gives birth to harmony
Yet harmony wedges not the tomb
That consumes babies of wars
UN @71, do something before you die!

THE VALUE OF EDUCATION

Daniel Webster once said:
“Education without the Bible is useless.”
You may or may not agree with him
It’s worth listening to him nevertheless

It’s better not to have been born at all than
To live in 21st century without education
Beloved youth of Africa, especially Ghana
Please place premium on your education

 Your parents’ ordeal in search of school
 When you fail to get your first choice
 Offer them your first gift of hypertension
When you enter Senior High School
Stop blocking your ears with earphones

Internet should lead you not into temptation
Rather a vehicle to your academic destination 
In class listen to your teachers with rapt attention
Put Facebook aside and grab your textbooks
When you graduate you can swim in the sea
Of Facebook, twitter and Instagram until
You enter the kingdom of heaven!

Adorable Ghana we know
Affable Ghana we know
Amiable Ghana we know

Beautiful Ghana we know
Blissful Ghana we know
Delightful Ghana we know

Calm Ghana we know
Cool Ghana we know
Serene Ghana we know

For over 20 years or so
Elections have come and gone
Elections will still come and go
Ghana’s 2016 Elections
May be “Kpokpoblibli” Elections
Yet, they will always come and go

Humble sons and daughters of Ghana
Noble sons and daughters of Ghana
In the Lord may you remain faithful  
 “Kpokpoblibli” elections shall be peaceful!

THE ACADEMY OF PEACE

Africa’s Academy of Peace is Ghana
Birds of heavens
Beasts of forests
Fishes of oceans
Insects of flowers  
All migrate to our Academy
To quench their political thirst
With our calabash of hospitality

African heroes from Far East
African heroes from Far South
African heroes from Far North
African heroes from Far West
Almost all journey to our Academy
To procure models of wisdom
To administer their own kingdoms

If we, royals of kingdom of wisdom
Infest our canals of peace with freedom
If we deploy political "galamsey"
To poison the milk and honey
Of our Academy of Peace
We should not blame the Master Jesus
If we fail to enter the political kingdom!

Sans moi, Paris sera pris>

Without me, Paris will be taken”

Soldiers are famous for their bravery 
Solders are celebrated for their valiantly
 Entirety of human academic foundation
To rest upon the shoulders of 26 soldiers
Is a feat beyond human comprehension

The whole Bible is made of 26 soldiers
The encyclopaedia Africana of 26 soldiers
The encyclopaedia Americana of  26 soldiers
The encyclopaedia Britannica of 26 soldiers
The 270-Pages “Little Mawu” of 26 soldiers
All thick and thin volumes of 26 soldiers

Oh beloved 26 alphabetic letters
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N
O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
The scholarly world is grateful
And thankful to you
For your magical powers
World poets hail you 26 soldiers
As heroes of science and technology
Orbiting in the firmament of Poetry!
